Some 15 years ago...
...the Prairie City Races were started by a local frame builder, Sherwood Gibson of VENTANA Mountain Bikes USA. In those days we had 60 to 70 riders each race for a 6 week series. It was a weekly get together with your friends for some friendly hometown competition. It was great fun and the races continued to grow every year...
We are now a 12 race series with 400+ riders per race (we've had up to 526 racers on a Wednesday!). Who knew 15 years ago that we would grow into one of the largest weekly race Series in the Western U.S. We focus of FUN hometown racing in a professionally run race.
The participation of families racing together, our Juniors Class and the ever popular Kid’s races continue to grow. On the other end the Expert class is always hotly contested and a great spectacle for the crowd. No matter what your ability or speed our Series has indeed become a place where there is “Mountain Bike Racing for Everyone!”
Each year for the last three years we've had over 1000 total active registered racers. We post more than 6,000 photos per season and we get over 50,000 hits during the four month Series.
